We can’t really end it here without a few honorable mentions: our Jury had a super-hard time to cast the votes, as entries were all great: this meant that a few entries lost the podium by a minute amount of points. Our popular DIY Kit Challenge is entering the next round! Design the instrument of your dreams with a DIY kit from Thomann and win a €500 voucher from us. Your creativity knows no limits! The 2021 contestants put so much creativity and love into their creations, the results were just amazing. And this year we ask again: Do you accept the challenge? If yes, get out your screwdriver and paintbrush!

With your custom-designed instrument you have the chance to win great prizes… One of a total of three Thomann vouchers:
1st place: €500 voucher
2nd place: €350 voucher

#DIYKitChallenge22: How to participate!
To take part in our #DIYKitChallenge22, you create an instrument of your choice with a DIY kit from Thomann (you can find all kits below) and present it in a video. Your instrument must be both visually convincing and playable. Upload the video to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or YouTube using the following hashtag: #DIYKitChallenge22 (this must appear in the video title)!
Your video must not exceed 60 seconds (maximum total length)!
Important: Please note that your  profile must be publicly accessible and you must include #DIYKitChallenge22 in the video title on YouTube. On top of that, link / tag our profile on the platform you have chosen. This is important for us to find your creation. If you want, you can also post photos of the unboxing and the creation process. We also find it interesting and exciting how your composition came about.
DIY T-Style guitar kit
Our jury, consisting of our YouTube hosts and other Thomann employees, will award the best DIY creations. The Thomann jury selects the winners based on these criteria:
- Originality
- Overall visual impression
- Quality and cleanliness in terms of finishing the DIY instrument
- Technical features (e.g. special aesthetic designs, applications, decorations).
- Instrument must be fully playable

Running Time
The #DIYKitChallenge22 starts on Monday April 18th at 12:00 pm and ends on Sunday June 19th, 2022 at 23:59:59 pm (CEST).Â
Unfortunately, we cannot consider videos that are published before or after this period. Winners will be notified via their respective social media during the week of June 27, 2022.Â

Is there any obligation to use all parts of the kit? How many components might be replaced for higher quality or different sound or different style? Just as a wild example: would it be ok, to use a Ukulele kit, but replace the body with a solidbody-design to build an electric Ukulele that just uses the neck and tuners and strings?

Is the JA kit not allowed in the contest? It is a very similar kit sold by Thomman beside these. A friend and I just purchased (today) 2 JA kits specifically for this contest. I have just now encountered the list of applicable kits. Do I need to cancel the order and change kits?

It says “YES style” is allowed, that’s the JA style guitar. Maybe it’s a joke or a translation mistake because “ja” means “yes” in German. 🙂

My video was submitted 10 minutes after the deadline, I have a slow upload speed and YouTube also now takes time to scan videos for copyright :/
