Brighter isn’t better

Don’t get me wrong, these speakers look great. But do they sound great? Not really. At low volumes they sound pretty nice, but when pushed they sound like a cheap speaker. There is too much dependence on the high frequency driver which results in a shrill, fatiguing sound. I expected the 6 mid frequency drivers to carry some of the weight here, but they don’t seem to be full range like in speakers designed by dBTechnologies or RCF. I’m not even sure this speaker was designed by HK Audio, as the exact same speaker is sold under the Agera brand in other countries. While the construction of the sub is nice and sturdy, the tops are cheap and plastic. So what do I like? There is a ton of bass. And while it’s not as tight or punchy as something like the ES602 or ES802 there is just so much of it. I can see it being great for DJs. The delay feature is also nice, because my current mixer lacks that. The included cases are a plus. All in all they sound good once you EQ out the hyped highs and high mids (the onboard EQ is not sufficient for this). I’m keeping mine.

Poles Apart!!

I thought i would put an unbiased view of this speaker system. I purchased a pair of HK Audio Polar 12's in March 2021. After lockdown i started gigging about the middle of August and up and till now "June 2022" i have been using these every week.
I know a lot of reviews on hear are all varied, but i have been using these every single week without any problems. The only thing that i would say is, when you are setting up with a mixer, you have to drive the master output to get the full potentional of volume needed in certain venues. If you use the factory settings, it would trigger the limiter quicker and therefore be quieter in output volume.
Personally, i've found a happy medium when setting the master level, i set it at either 5 or 6 on both speakers.
I highly recomend these speakers, just make sure you set the gain staging between speakers and external mixer.

operates perfectly for our needs

as a 2-piece rock band, having many years of experience, we needed a new system to match our requirements.
we wanted a punchy PA for smallish venues (pubs, clubs, <200), quick and easy setup, lightweight if possible and with a small footprint.
The 2 HK Audio Polar 12's that we got have performed very well to these specs, and have proven to be very road-worthy (the included covers have also been very useful).
we are very pleased with our purchase, particularly as the price/performance is unbeatable :)
would recommend this to anyone with the same gig profile.
